My Impressions of the New Bluemercury in Uptown SF

The first thing I noticed about the new 2,200 square foot flagship Bluemercury beauty boutique, spa and retailer in the Marina District (2060 Chestnut St.) isn't the store itself, its outwardly pleasing façade or its avalanche of products seeming to pour elegantly along its well-designed contours...but the French bistro on the sidewalk just outside. More than anything, that's what most appropriately sets the tone for your visit to this unique sort of storefront that confidently sells - and just as confidently exudes - luxury. Accessible, necessary luxury.

Spiked globe of a chandelier, radiating outwardly in all directions as if evocative of the radiant beauty each client can allow herself to feel. Dual spa treatment centers beckon the desire for pampering. Wide spaces and plentiful mirrors make movement and visualization a cinch. The sales staff make an effort to be available to the degree you need, and they're eager to find the best right thing and make sure you have it. This store is obviously off to a solid start in its first few months in this part of the city.
